Progress update from the very unproductive

Moving sucks. Not having a car sucks, and moving during a storm sucks perhaps even more. But none of that is an excuse for how far behind I feel I am. I have to start (and finish) Wuthering Heights within about 2 days for me to fulfill my first "keeping up with English" goal. I'll write after I'm finished and tell what I thought of it. I honestly can't believe I've never read it before. It was never assigned in high school, but even if it was I don't think I would have read it. I rarely read what was required in high school -- always managed to find ways to avoid reading and still get good grades, which worries me about going into the field. Sure, an idealist can hope that these students will read and love reading as much as I grew to in college, but let's be honest. I was an honors/AP kid, and I didn't read. We were supposedly the kids who loved work, and we never did it. How can I honestly expect my students to do it, if I didn't? Maybe I'll get lucky and my students will be better people than me. Haha.
